The recruitment process

Stage 1: Your application. You can either apply on line by following the "How to Apply" instructions and completing your on-line application form, or alternatively contact our 24 hours job line and request an application pack 01480 42 25 11. Completed application forms and supporting documents must be received by 5pm on the closing date.

Stage 2: Short listing of your application. . Once we receive your application by the close date, as stated on the advert, your details will be forwarded to the relevant line manager to be short listed.

Stage 3: Invite to assessment centre or interview. Should you be successfully short listed for the post, a member of the Recruitment Team, shall contact you by either telephone or letter to invite you to attend either an assessment centre or an interview. The letter will include details of the time, date and location and names of assessment/interview panel. Enclosed will be directions, a medical questionnaire and any additional information if applicable. *

Stage 4: If you successfully pass the assessment or interview you shall be contacted by telephone, to be advised that we wish to make a conditional offer. We shall also now confirm that we can contact your references. **

Stage 5: Our administration process. We shall initiate recruitment checks at this stage, which will include security checks, contacting referees and medical clearance.

Stage 6: Conditional offer. You shall receive within days of the telephone call from the recruitment team a conditional offer letter. Please be aware that this is not a final offer and is subject to receipt of satisfactory recruitment checks.

Stage 7: When we are in receipt of all recruitment checks and they are found to be satisfactory, and we have received your signed conditional offer letter, we shall forward to you a contract of employment with Cambridgeshire Constabulary.

Please note that the recruitment team will be in touch with you in between stage 6 and stage 7 to negotiate a start date. This will be dependant on your personal circumstances, the requirement of the Line Manager and the receipt of satisfactory recruitment checks.

* It is with regret that we are unable to notify applicants if they have been unsuccessful, if you do not here from the recruitment team within 21 days of your application then regretfully you have been unsuccessful at this stage.

** Should you not successfully pass the assessment or interview, you will be notified in writing.
