What do you mean by “police staff”?

Police staff are non-police officers employed by Cambridgeshire Police to support and facilitate the work of its officers and of the Force in general.

How old do I have to be to apply for support roles?

Provided applicants are eligible to work (16 or above) they are eligible to apply for Police Staff Vacancies.

Do I have to be a British citizen to work for the Constabulary?

Police staff must be British citizens, members of the EC/EEA, Commonwealth Citizens or foreign nationals who have the right to live & work in the UK. You must have resided in the UK for a minimum of 3 Years and be able to provide sufficient detail on Family members to enable us to carry out security vetting in order to progress your application.

Can I send my CV into the recruitment team?

Unfortunately we do not accept CV’s. All candidates should request and fill in an application form for advertised vacancies. Completed application forms and supporting documents need to be received by 5pm on the closing date.

Where can I find out about current vacancies?

All our vacancies are posted on our web-site, www.cambs.police.uk and occasionally in the local press (Hunts Post, Peterborough Evening Telegraph and the Cambridge Evening News).

Can I use an old application form for another post?

It is important that a new form is completed for each vacancy you wish to apply for, as each position we recruit to has different short listing criteria.

Will you give me feedback after the closing date?

Due to the large number of applications we receive it is not our policy to give feedback after short listing. If you are not contacted within 21 days of the close date please assume that your application has been unsuccessful.

Will you give me feedback after an interview?

Yes, all candidates will receive a letter informing them of the outcome of their interview. The letter will provide contact information should you wish to receive further feedback.

How do I know if I have been successful at passing the interview?

If you have attended an interview, you will be contacted by the recruitment team usually by letter detailing if you have been successful or not.

What happens if I am successful?

You will receive a conditional offer letter, which will be subject to satisfactory recruitment checks.
