Hello Everyone!
This month I’ve been very busy learning loads of new things but I’ve also been to visit my friend Martin at the vet’s because dad was worried as I was limping.
I don’t mind going to the vet’s because I get to meet loads of new people and get lots of cuddles from dad. Martin the vet did an x-ray on my leg and I had to be really good and sit still the whole time. My left leg is a bit swollen and Martin says it’s because I am experiencing growing pains which is normal for a dog my size. I am on some pills which will make my leg go back to normal and I am not allowed to do anymore jumping until I am 18 months old which is no fun as I love jumping!
Martin put me on the scales and I now weigh 40kg! Apparently that is a lot for a dog my age and he said that when I finish growing at 18 months I will be a huge dog indeed!! I’m already bigger than both my brothers Yeoman and George, although they still like to boss me around.
Even though I’m not allowed to jump for a while I have still been doing lots of fun training! Dad has been trying to teach me the basic obedience commands of sit, down and stand but I prefer to lie down for all of them!
I have been doing more sleeve work or “ragging” and I now know when to bite, hold and leave it. I’ve also been doing some more tracking training and I’m now able to track round corners as well as in a straight line. Dad says I’m really good at it and it’s great because I always get my favourite toy to play with at the end!
Dad was really proud of me this month as I managed to teach my older brothers Yeoman and George to go up and down see through metal stairs. Both my brothers are scared of the stairs because you can see right through them but I think its great fun to run up and down them really fast! When my brothers saw what fun I was having they decided to join in too!
Although I’m not a proper police dog yet dad has been taking me out on some of the patrolling jobs. I get to ride with him in the van to loads of new and exciting places and when we get there I get to explore the buildings and have a good walk around. It’s really exciting and I love going new places. I can’t wait to be a proper police dog.
This month dad took me and my brothers to a fete at the Parnwell Centre in Peterborough. George got out to say hello to all the children while Yeoman and I stayed in the van and had great fun barking loudly at everyone who went past. Well I had to make everyone look at me to see how handsome I am somehow!
I’ve been working with my brothers to cause mischief this month. Dad keeps our food in a big metal bin with a lid on top but I have learnt how to take the lid off so that my brother George can then get in and eat it all! I still enjoy chewing things too, and am really enjoying destroying the rubber mat in the van at the moment.
You will be pleased to know that my ears are now up all the time and I look like an adult dog. I’m really looking forward to my birthday next month and will tell you all about it in my next post.
Goodbye for now xx
