Hello!
Once again I hope you’re well and that you had a lovely Easter. I wasn’t allowed to eat any of Paul’s chocolate because it’s not very good for me… although I did get treated to some proper doggy chocolate! Not too much though as I want to keep as fit as possible while I’m still in my assessment period.
Well this month has again been a rather busy one for me. Dad went away for the weekend last month; so I got to go and stay up at the dog unit for my holiday. It was brilliant and I really enjoyed it because I was with both of my brothers. Yeoman was next to me and George was opposite us. The other handlers were constantly coming up to see us so we were never lonely. All three of us loved it! We were really happy when dad came to pick us up, as it meant we got to go home and be a proper family again. We all had missed them so much, but even our handlers need a break every so often.
I was lucky enough to meet the man that dad named me after this month too; Lukas Dryml. He’s a speedway racer who currently rides for the Peterborough Panthers. He was really nice to me and I managed to get some photos with him after dad told him that I was named after him.
As you can see from my pictures I am getting quite big now. I’m six months old so I’m almost grown into my ears, just a little way to go but I’ll keep you informed.
You might have heard that Princess Anne went to Cambridge a couple of weeks ago. She was there to open up a newly refurbished library which is just inside the Grand Arcade shopping centre. This meant my big bro George had to go to the centre and investigate to look for any explosives. Dad says we do this when there are any VIP visits. So I went along with George and dad and had a good sniff around. I even got to ride in the lift and run up the escalators! Of course I didn’t find anything, but George is a highly trained explosives dog and has a sense of smell that is over 100 times that of a human being!
One of the areas I will be trained in if I make it as a general purpose dog, is to find people when they’ve run away or if they’re hiding. One of the other dogs from the unit called Mason was really successful recently and managed to find two men, suspected of metal theft, who were hiding 30 feet above him on a mezzanine. Now that is a brilliant example of the work the dogs and handlers do at the unit. Fingers crossed I’ll make it too so I can be just like them.
Don’t forget you can send in any questions to me, or my dad Paul and we’ll answer them in the next blog. Or just say hello!
Lots of puppy love,
